Tribal Women in Trimbakeshwar Demand Work and Dignity

“Denying women laborers the right to work is not only a violation of law but also a matter of social justice. For women to get the right to work, the government needs to make the necessary changes immediately,” said Laxmikant Jadhav, founder of the BELIEFS organization.
On the occasion of International Labour Day (May 1st), hundreds of tribal women from Trimbakeshwar and nearby villages came together to demand their right to work and dignity under MGNREGA. These women, supported by BELIEFS, submitted a memorandum to the district administration highlighting issues like job denial, delayed payments, and non-provision of unemployment allowance.
Their collective action reflects a growing movement among tribal women to assert their constitutional and labor rights, ensuring that development reaches the last person in the village.
