BELIEFS Highlights Barriers Faced by Rural Women in Accessing Maharashtra CM’s Scheme

axmikant Jadhav, from the Nashik-based NGO Better Livelihood and Education through Fundamental Studies (BELIEFS), highlighted the significant challenges faced by rural and tribal women in Maharashtra while accessing essential documents to apply for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.
Speaking to The Hindu, Jadhav pointed out that many women remain excluded due to the lack of Aadhaar, voter ID, or bank passbooks — issues that BELIEFS has repeatedly documented through its field surveys.
He also criticized the scheme’s limited financial scope, stating that the ₹1,500 monthly allowance is inadequate to tackle the widespread anaemia crisis among women in rural Maharashtra. “Without nutritional support, regular blood screening camps, and proactive help from local administrations in issuing necessary documents, the scheme will not achieve its intended impact,” he added.
